MovieClub, operated by MOVIECLUB LLC, is committed to ensuring the privacy of your information and your trust in our service.

Application

This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information submitted by you within the MovieClub iOS App (the “App”), and any information that may be automatically collected through your use of the App, including integrations with services such as Firebase, Apple Sign-In, and third-party APIs like TMDb.

Legal Basis and Data Usage

We process your email and authentication data to provide account services (necessary for contract), with your consent for analytics. Your email is used only for login, account security, and communication purposes (e.g., password recovery). Your display name is shown on your public profile and may be visible to other users. After signing up, your profile (which includes your display name) will be visible to other users of the app. Depending on your activity, other users may also see your interactions or engagements with their profiles.

Rights & Requests

You may request access, deletion, correction, or portability of your data by emailing us. We honor DSARs.

Third Parties

We share data with Firebase (analytics/hosting), and Apple (identity provider), to operate the App.

Complaints

If located in the EU, you may file a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Tracking

We use in‑App local storage and Firebase analytics. No cross‑site cookies.

Consent

By creating a MovieClub account or using the App, you consent to the collection, use, disclosure, storage, and processing of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the App indicates your agreement to the current version of this policy.

Personal Information

To use certain features, you may need to provide personal information such as:

- Email address

- Display name

- Optional profile photo

This data is stored securely using Firebase Authentication and Firestore. We do not require sensitive information like phone numbers or addresses.

Local Storage

We use local device storage to maintain login state, user preferences, and performance metrics. This data is not shared outside the App.

Advertising and Analytics

For non-subscribers, we may use anonymized analytics and limited third-party ad tools to understand usage patterns and improve the App. We do not sell personal data or use invasive tracking.

Log Data

We may collect information such as:

- Device type and OS version

- App usage patterns

- Crashes and performance data

- Anonymous identifiers

This data helps us ensure a reliable and secure experience.

Payment Information

We do not process payments directly. All transactions are managed by Apple’s App Store. We do not store your payment details. We may receive limited metadata (e.g., subscription tier, renewal status) from Apple to manage your access.

Use of Information

Your data is used to:

- Provide core MovieClub features

- Deliver notifications (if enabled)

- Secure your account

- Improve app functionality

We do not use your data for unrelated third-party purposes.

Disclosure of Information

We only share your personal data:

- When required by law

- When necessary to provide app services (e.g., Firebase backend)

We never sell or rent your personal data.

Access & Updates

You may update or correct your information in the App under Settings. For data removal requests, email support@movieclub.io.

Data Storage and Transfer

User data is stored securely using Google Firebase, primarily in the United States. User data is transferred to Firebase upon submission in order to support the core functionalities of Movie Club. While a user's DisplayName may be temporarily retrieved by a user’s device when viewing public profiles, no other data—such as email addresses or passwords—is transferred again unless explicitly requested by the data owner.By using the App, you consent to this transfer and storage.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through the App. Upon deletion:

- Your data will be scheduled for removal

- Deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed

Children’s Privacy

MovieClub is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.

If you believe that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@movieclub.io, and we will take steps to remove such information and terminate the associated account.

Security

We take your security seriously. All data transmission is encrypted. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
